ということで、少なくとも20世紀に関していえば、第一に、4番の歌詞がフォスターのものではないというような異論があったとは思えません。そして、第二に、2番の歌詞を排除したのは必ずしも「最近」とか「近年」のこととは言えない。

  ちなみに津川主一の4番まである日本語訳は、 「童謡データベース」を信じれば1948年、つまり"Oh! Susanna" の楽譜が初めて印刷された1848年からちょうど100年後の発表だそうです。
