    今日は、あたりまえですけど、アメリカはクリスマスイヴで、明日のクリスマスは店が休みだし、昼前から降り出した冷たい雨の中をちょっと買い出しに南（99セントショップ）へ北へ（1ドルショップ）とバスでヨーヨー運動しました。サンパブロ通りの八百屋さん(Yaoya-san Market) にも寄ったところ、今年はなんたらとか去年はなんちゃらとか、日本語で会話をする老夫婦がいて、見ると、かまぼことか伊達巻とか、きんとんとか、おでんとか（なんでやねん）、正月用のコーナーができていました（肉の上の棚・・・・・・ふだんは何があったのだろう、2段にわたって）。ちょっとしみじみしました。

　　ジェニー・オーウェン・ヤングズ (Jenny Owen Youngs) は1981年11月22日ニュージャージー生まれの女性歌手で、ニューヨーク州立大学Purchase校の "studio compostion"学の学位を取った才女です。2005年にアルバム Batten the Hatches を自主制作。翌2006年、このアルバム収録の "Fuck Was I" がテレビドラマ Weeds で使用されて注目される。2007年4月 Batten the Hatches がアメリカのNettwerk Music Group より発売、2007年5月、"Fuck Was I" のシングル盤がイギリスで発売、同6月イギリス版のアルバム発売。

   歌詞は別に五月柱を歌っているわけでも、五月柱が出てくるわけでも、五月柱をにおわせるものでも、ないのだけれど、pv で五月柱がフィーチャーされているのでした。
